The Badajoz Provincial Council will open La Cocosa to see the Perseids on August 14.

The Badajoz Provincial Council has organised an astronomical observation session at the Finca La Cocosa Sky Promotion and Protection Centre on the occasion of the meteor shower that will take place on 14 August.

The session will consist of observation of them with the naked eye and other astronomical phenomena through telescopes.

The Perseids, also known as the Tears of St. Lawrence, are one of the most spectacular and anticipated meteor showers of the year. An astronomical phenomenon that occurs every summer, usually peaking in mid-August, it occurs when the Earth passes through the debris left behind by Comet Swift-Tuttle, causing dust and ice particles to enter our atmosphere.

Those wishing to participate in this event must apply for registration through the general activity forms available in the virtual office of the website of the Ecological Transition Zone of the Provincial Council of Badajoz.

Places are limited and participants will be provided with a free bus from Badajoz, as La Cocosa cannot be reached by any other means of transport. The meeting point and departure point for the bus will be El Hospital Centro Vivo at 22:30.
