“The best stage of my sports career was with Paquito, not with Galan” | Relief
Juan Lebron is not an athlete who spends much time in the media. Since parting ways with Ale Galan at the beginning of the year, the Andalusian player has given almost no interviews. Taking advantage of the presentation Red Bull Dasha new competition created by an energy drink brand,It took El Lobo a few minutes to deal with Relevo. and analyze some current aspects.
You just won your debut with Di Nenno in Finland. How do you see yourself as a pair?
Very good, we work hard, strengthening many things as a couple. We practice different things, new games, everything to always reinvent ourselves and make each other better. Martin is an outstanding player and person, he makes your life very simple and easy. The truth is that when you practice, everything is good.
You changed sides of the court. Have you adapted to playing on the left flank?
I am very happy with the changes. The beginning is a bit difficult, but we are working very well. Little by little we are adapting and gaining confidence. As the tournaments go on, we will definitely improve.
The next tournament is in Madrid next week. Is there a goal to fight for the title?
We want to win every game, always with humility. We go into it confidently but not trustingly, knowing that every match will be very difficult and from there we will try to gain confidence to reach the final rounds and if we can win the tournament, even better.
What didn’t you like about working with Paquito Navarro?
Well, I think it’s different moments, different circumstances, different stages… Maybe there was a lot of pressure on both of us at that stage in 2019 when we reached number one. I highlight a lot of things about Paco, I can only say positive things, although there was a bit of a tough time on the bench, but then everything is fine. Off the court, the relationship is incredible. Paco is a very important person in my career, in my life, and I really want to thank him and his family. He gave me very good advice, he was always there for me, Paco is 10.
Was the reason for the breakup that you are two players with strong personalities?
No, not at all. None of that had anything to do with the breakup. We didn’t get the results we wanted, we talked and decided from a sporting point of view. Paco said it in an interview, that for me the only thing worth winning was, and I think that’s true. He did everything to try, he worked and took great care of himself, because at 35 years old, this bastard has abs. He did everything possible to make sure that we got through all those final rounds and that winning tournaments didn’t happen, but nothing happens, and I will always sincerely thank him for everything.
Was the period with Ale Galan, when you dominated professional padel for almost four years, the best in your sports career?
No, I think it was with Paco. It was the first year I was number one. No Spanish player in the history of padel had ever achieved that and I didn’t expect it. I think it was without a doubt the most beautiful, even though it was only one year. In the second stage, even though we didn’t win any titles, it was also a very happy stage.
What memories do you have of your time with Galan? Would you change anything about what happened?
Oh, I would tell you so many things that people don’t know… but hey, one day the truth will come out…
Don’t leave us like this, tell us something else
Can’t…
What does it mean to you to be part of a team of athletes like Red Bull?
This is the best family I have ever had in my sports career. It is a great honor for me to represent this brand. The people who work here treat us as if we are their friends for life. I am very happy to be a part of this team.
