The creators of Palworld explain the differences and limitations of playing on Steam and Xbox/Windows.
Palworld players on Xbox, Windows, and Game Pass have been complaining about a number of limitations compared to Steam users, which Pocket Pair has now addressed.
The fashion game of 2024 is here. We suspected Palworld would be a success, but we never suspected it would have such a big media and commercial impact. Pocket Pair title in just four days has already exceeded five million games sold.
I must say that Palworld is still in Early Access (preview game on Xbox/Windows) and can only be played on PC, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
It’s good that the game is included in the Game Pass catalog. Moreover, its creators have not ruled out a release on PlayStation, although the Nintendo Switch seems more complex (sparks may fly with Game Freak, the creators of Pokémon).
Of course, not all that glitters is gold. Over the past few hours, some Xbox, Windows and Game Pass players They complain about differences (many negative) What about the Steam version?
On their official Discord server, the developers of Pocket Pair explained: the reason for these differenceswhich will disappear over time.
Palworld versions are not the same
In the coming weeks and months, Pocket Pair will be releasing new creatures (Friends) as well as new features for their game. also including cross play. Currently, Xbox/Windows players cannot play with Steam players, and vice versa.
There is an explanation for this, as well as the limitations that the Xbox ecosystem versions have compared to Steam.
What are we talking about? For example, it is available on Steamwith the ability to play online on dedicated serversFrom to 32 simultaneous users per game.
On the other hand, on Xbox and Windows Can only be played in co-op mode with 2 to 4 players.which means that it is still NOT an MMO, as if it were on Steam (clans can also be created).
Pay attention to the explanation of Pocket Pair boys and girls:
”Game versions on Steam and Xbox differ. That is, Steam v1.2 and Xbox v1.2 are not the same thing. There seems to be some confusion about Steam and Xbox being “missing features” and that’s not entirely true.”.
Other problems when it comes to the Xbox versions: no exit button from Palworld, ability to change your character’s nameor editor limitations.
”Again, this doesn’t mean the Xbox is “lag” or anything like that, they’re just two different versions of the game due to the different Xbox architecture. Xbox version 1.2 may be different from Steam version 1.2, and vice versa.”.
Until they are resolved some problems with certification, Pocket Pair cannot provide complete fairness between Xbox/Windows and Steam. At the moment, they also cannot guarantee that there are dedicated servers on Xbox.
”Of course the goal is to move them to the same location, but that won’t be possible until cross-play is fully supported. Some of these things will take longer. Here we really are completely dependent on certification. We’re desperately trying to speed this up.”.
Palworld is expected to gradually evolve on Xbox and Windows, adding all the features already available on Steam and, of course, including cross-play.
