Santo Domingo, DR.
The stellar left-handed pitcher Roenis Elías will take the mound tonight for Águilas Cibaeñas, with the task of keeping the yellows in competition in the present round-robin.
Elías comes from missing a start after being absent for his son’s birthday, as reported by the Santiago-based team.
Roenis Elías will face the Estrellas de Oriente in a match scheduled for the Cibao Stadium, at 7:30 p.m. tonight. Elías already faced the team from San Pedro de Macorís once in this round robin, on December 27, when he threw 6 innings of only 2 hits, with no earned runs allowed and struck out 7 batters. That game was won by the Eagles with a score of 6-0.
In the present all against all he has thrown in three games, with three games won and 19 innings and two thirds of work. He has only allowed one earned run for a 0.46 ERA, he has struck out 21.
The general manager of the Águilas Cibaeñas announced on Sunday that Elías would be back in the rotation of the Águilas Cibaeñas after the day off yesterday Tuesday, “since he lost three days of his preparation and must get back into rhythm.”
The Eastern Stars seek tonight to qualify for the Final Series of Dominican baseball, which they would achieve if they beat the eaglets.
On the same stage are the Tigres del Licey, who with their victory tonight against Gigantes del Cibao would secure their place in the last stage of the tournament.
