The electric Skoda Elroq already has a price and it surprises by costing the same as the similar petrol Karoq.
Skoda is aiming for the new electric Elroq to be priced equivalent to its combustion engine rivals in most European markets. Klaus Zellmer, CEO of the Czech companyconfirmed that its goal is to offer one of the most affordable electric C-segment SUVs on the market to compensate for the disappearance of assistance programs in countries such as Germany.
To see if Skoda was able to keep its promise, Let’s compare the new product with its thermal counterpart, the veteran Karoq.. Both have virtually the same dimensions (4.49 meters long for the Elroq and 4.39 meters for the Karoq) and, at least on paper, are aimed at the same target audience.
On the German market, the Karoq is offered with three engines: 1.0 TSI 115 hpHe 1.5 TSI 150 hp And 2.0 TDI in 115 and 150 hp versions.. The 1.0 TSI starts at €33,140 and the 1.5 TSI at €35,390 (with the DSG automatic transmission this figure rises to €37,380). 2.0 TSI with 115 hp costs 36,470 euros, and the 150-horsepower one costs 40,770 euros. The latter is also sold with all-wheel drive (43,170 euros).
Elroq is currently available in two versions.: 50 (engine 170 hp, battery 55 kWh, range according to WLTP 370 km) and 85 (engine 286 hp, battery 82 kWh, range 560 km according to WLTP). Later, both an intermediate variant called 60 (204 hp engine, 63 kWh battery, WLTP range of 400 km) and another with all-wheel drive called 85x will be added.
Skoda Elroq aims to be one of the most affordable electric SUVs in the C segment.
Elroq 50 starts at €33,900; That’s why, It is in the same price range as the Karoq access.. The Elroq 85 costs €43,900, which is slightly more expensive than the most powerful diesel Karoq. Given that the electric is much more powerful than its thermal counterpart, the price difference between the 85 and the TDI isn’t too great. Most likely, the 60 will be on par with the 1.5 TSI and 2.0 TDI with 115 hp, although we will have no doubts until it is included in the configurator.
Regarding the Spanish market, At the moment, only the starting price of 34,490 euros has been announced.. For comparison, the Karoq 1.0 TSI costs around 32,790 euros, and in the case of the 1.5 TSI and 2.0 TDI it reaches 35,190 euros. Unlike Germany, we can additionally deduct up to €7,000 in aid from the MOVES III electricity plan.
