The first coach after the Special Football Commission in the league managed only one club
The new University Athletic League football commission, which appears likely to be taken over by the son of Isaac Alvarez, the organization’s president, has already identified a coach to replace Luis Zubeldia.
This Sunday afternoon First fruits and Mundo Deportivo have confirmed that Spain coach Josep Alcácer will become the new coach of Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito; replacing Luis Zubeldia.
Alcácer will arrive in the country as a historic coach, the first in decades to be elected outside the Special Football Commission, led first by Rodrigo Paz Delgado and then by his son Esteban. The same, in addition to several national titles, leave a legacy of a Copa Libertadores, two South American Cups and two South American Cup Winners’ Cups in the showcase of Albo’s team.
At 44 years old, Josep was only the head coach of Alcorcon. As a technical assistant, he worked for Castellon, Villarreal B, Real Sporting Gijon, Elche, Getafe, Villarreal and Granada.
