The government has launched an evacuation plan for Spaniards in Lebanon and will send two planes to pick up 350 people

Two Air Force planes are scheduled to fly to Lebanon tomorrow to begin evacuation plans for Spanish citizens. This was confirmed on Wednesday by Defense Minister Margarita Robles, who said that these two aircraft and troops are already ready and waiting for the availability of airspace.

“Two Air Force aircraft are scheduled to leave tomorrow to begin the evacuation. Everything is already ready and can be completed at the cost it has and the availability of airspace,” the minister said in an interview on Antena 3.

Margarita Robles detailed that there are already 350 Spanish citizens who have asked the embassy to leave the country after the Israeli attack this week. Netanyahu’s government has replaced intense air strikes with a ground military campaign, sparking a wave of violence across the Middle East.

Robles also recalled that Spanish troops deployed in the country since the 2006 war are on an international UN mission and, therefore, the possible withdrawal of troops will be decided on the same forum.
