the great winner of the Oscars 2023

Cuban actress Ana de Armas was unable to take home the 2023 Oscar Awards statuette, but she still appears as a great winner.
Last Sunday, March 12, the 95th edition of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Awards Ceremony took place. Likewise, important film figures from around the world gathered at the event, whose work and talent have been worthy of recognition.
As we know, the Cuban actress Ana de Armas was among the nominees for the 2023 Oscar Awards, in the “Best Actress” category. This, as a result of her prodigious performance in the Netflix movie, “Blonde”, where she gave life to the late actress Marilyn Monroe.
Undoubtedly, all Cubans hoped that the precious statuette would go to the Cuban woman; however, this did not happen like this. Recall that, during the award ceremony, the Academy awarded the trophy to actress Michelle Yeoh, for her performance in “Everything everywhere at the same time.”

However, far from what some may think, this experience was by no means a defeat for the talented actress from Havana. On the contrary, the arrival of Ana de Armas at the 2023 Oscar Awards represents her greatest achievement as an actress, and also gives her greater relevance in the artistic environment.
What did Ana de Armas achieve with her 2023 Oscar nomination?
As we mentioned before, despite the fact that Ana de Armas did not win at the 2023 Oscars, the nomination that she obtained represents a triumph in many ways.

First of all, let’s take into account that for years, the Cuban actress has been making an arduous effort to stand out in the film industry. Likewise, for this she has had to overcome various difficulties, and even repeated contempt for being Latina.
However, none of this distracted the actress and, on the contrary, motivated her to continue giving the best of her talent with each challenge. Ultimately, she is given one of the most difficult roles of her career, with her leading role in Blonde; opportunity that allowed him to boost it significantly.
The professionalism, charisma and evident talent of the Cuban in Blonde, allowed her to captivate the public and critics of the medium; receiving praise and recognition. Undoubtedly, the fabulous performance of Ana de Armas did not go unnoticed by the members of the Academy, thus achieving the nomination for the 2023 Oscar Awards.
Throughout history, very few Cuban actors have been considered by the Academy among the nominations for the award. Consequently, Ana de Armas is the first Cuban actress to stand out in this way in the film industry; which is a source of pride for the country.
Currently, apart from Ana de Armas, the actors who have previously been nominated for the Oscars are Ernesto Lecuona and Andy Vásquez (double nominee). Also, the actors Tomás Gutiérrez Alea and Juan Carlos Tabío.
