The Ministry of Health gave recommendations on health protection in the heat – Health and well-being

The Ministry of Health reminded about the basic preventive measures that allow you to enjoy the summer without suffering from health problems characteristic of this season.

As the warmer months arrive, there is a tendency for various seasonal illnesses, such as heat stroke and sun exposure-related problems, to increase. In response to this situation, the Entre Rios Ministry of Health reminded us of the care and prevention measures.

In this sense, it was recommended to keep in mind that days with high temperatures and humidity can pose a great health risk, especially for young girls and boys, as well as for the elderly. This is why to prevent heat stroke, it is recommended to stay in cool, well-ventilated areas, wear cotton clothing, and maintain proper hydration.

As for the elderly, the ministry encourages them to drink water even if they are not thirsty; In the case of children, it is recommended that a responsible adult offer fluids constantly without waiting for the children to ask for it, and in the case of infants, offer the breast more often.

You should also pay attention to symptoms of exhaustion due to high temperatures, which is a step before heatstroke. These symptoms are: fatigue or weakness; excessive sweating; feeling of suffocating heat and thirst; heat; muscle spasms; loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting; Headache; irritability or inconsolable crying in babies; dizziness or fainting.

If these symptoms occur, the person should be moved to a cool, ventilated area; You should offer cold water with half a teaspoon of salt per liter, and a shower is also recommended. You should not take antipyretics and should consult a healthcare professional if you experience a condition with these characteristics.

Solar exposure
The hours between 10:00 and 16:00, as well as intense games and sports that cause increased sweating, should be avoided. It is also advisable to wear hats or caps with a visor, frequently wet your head and body parts, and always use sunscreen, preferably factor 30 or higher, in exposed areas and even on cloudy days. It is important to renew application every two hours after exposure to water or sweating.

It should also be kept in mind that children under one year of age should not be exposed to direct sunlight and that, starting at six months, sunscreen can be used in situations where they are occasionally exposed to sunlight. If a sunburn occurs, it is recommended to use cold compresses, administer fluids, and seek medical attention.
