The Spanish Food Safety and Nutrition Agency (AESAN) has issued a warning after discovering the presence of an undeclared allergen in some cookies sold in supermarkets.
These are milk proteins that may cause allergic reactions in people sensitive to this ingredient. Those people who are not allergic to milk are not at risk when consuming these cookies.

We are talking about cookies like María from the Hacendado brand, which do not contain gluten and lactose. Mercadona, the owner company, announced on its website that it has decided to proactively delete these cookies.
The batch listed in the Aesan alert corresponds to a batch with an expiration date of 05/29/2025. These cookies are packaged in plastic, stored at room temperature and each block weighs 205 grams, making them easy to identify as contaminated product.
Aesan was informed of this problem through the Coordinated System for the Rapid Exchange of Information (Sciri), which received an alert from the health authorities of the Valencian Community.
According to reports, the affected products were distributed in Mercadona stores. An audit will be carried out to ensure that these products are removed from distribution channels.
