The Mosso raid the headquarters of the Catalan Football Federation on suspicion of election fraud.
This Tuesday, the Mossos d’Esquadra searches the main headquarters of the Catalan Football Federation (FCF) in Barcelona for alleged irregularities in the last elections in this entity.
The police action was taken at the request of the Sabadell court in a secret case that is investigating crimes related to the falsification of public and private documents, as well as unfair governance.
According to the High Court of Catalonia (TSJC), the action was carried out by order of the Investigative Court No. 2 of the city of Sabadell.
Regional police officers burst into the FCF office on Calle Sicilia in the Catalan capital early in the morning and prevented workers from entering.
The FCF elections had to be held twice due to a protest launched in May 2022 by one of the candidates who reported irregularities in the voter lists.
The elections were repeated in February 2023 by order of the Catalan Sports Court (TCE). In both cases, the winner was Joan Soteras, the current president of the federation.
After the last elections held on February 13, 2023, Juanjo Isern, another of the candidates, again filed a complaint with the TCE, claiming that Soteras and the rest of his candidates were not eligible to participate in the elections, considering that they all exercised their office unlawfully during elections. most of the electoral process.
After TCE rejected the latest appeal, Isern reported the matter to TSJC.
