The national team puts doubts behind them and gives it their all on their first day of work at the Olympics. OO | Relief
The first training session is over. Spain continues to prepare for its Olympic debut next Thursday, August 25, against Japan. A match marked in red on the calendar, because of the opponent – the strongest in its group – and because of the beginning of the dream of winning gold after winning everything. So serious faces and maximum concentration were noticed at the first training session in Nantes. With the usual jokes from the youngest players upon arrival on the field, the team is now skating normally in the Olympic competitions.
After a few “tough” and “stressful” weeks, during which there were some inconveniences, Montse Thome began her first session on French soil with 22 players on the field (18 called up and 4 reserves) the Marcel Sopin stadium, one of the centres authorized by the IOC to operate in Nantes.
The press is only given 15 minutes of training and during this time everything went without panic. The players performed several rondos and technical exercises. Lots of ball and a great starting group for the first contact on French soil. The “little troubles” of players like Aitana Bonmati, Salma Paralluelo or Marion Caldentey and others disappeared.
Thus, Spain greet their second day – they arrived on Sunday – with enthusiasm. The team had a technical talk before training and will have a quiet day with scheduled procedures in the afternoon. All this with the weather improving relative to Spain. From the stifling heat of Madrid to pleasant temperatures with an average of 20 degrees and cloudy skies..
