The nominations for the 2024 Grammys are here – El Democráta

Mexico City – Pedro Capo (who recently took the stage at the Rolling Stone Awards in Spanish), Pablo Alborán, Maluma and more are some of the artists nominated for Best Latin Pop Album. De Todos las Flores by Natalia Lafourcade, winner of the album has been nominated for Best Alternative Latin Rock Album of the Year at the RSEE Awards.

According to Rolling Stone magazine, the competition will be between Rau Alejandro, Karol G and Tany, winner of the RSEE Awards in the Best Urban Music Album category. Edgar Barrera, Cabra, Juanes, Fito Páez, Lila Downs, Silvana Estrada, Peso Pluma and other artists also received nominations.

Artists like Miley Cyrus, Jon Batiste, Boygenius, Olivia Rodrigo, SZA and Taylor Swift will compete for the Record of the Year award, joining Lana Del Rey and Janelle Monae to battle for Album of the Year. Emerging talent nominated for Best New Artist include Gracie Abrams, Fred Again…, Ice Spice, Noah Kahan, Victoria Monet and more. On this occasion, the most nominated artist is SZA with 9 nominations, followed by Victoria Monet, Boygenius and Srban Ghenea with 6 nominations each. Billie Eilish also has several nominations.

The Academy will recognize music released between October 1, 2022, and September 15, 2023. The celebration will take place on February 4 at the Crypto.com arena in Los Angeles.

With the expansion of the use of artificial intelligence in the arts, the Grammy Academy recently introduced rules on the subject. “Only human creators are eligible to be considered, nominated or won for the GRAMMY Awards. “Work that does not include human authorship is not eligible in any category,” the Academy instructs. This means that a song composed entirely by AI will not be eligible for the award.

Additionally, three new categories were added: Best African Music Performance, Best Pop Dance Recording and Best Alternative Jazz Album. At this awards ceremony, some of the most important categories such as Album, Song and Record of the Year, as well as Best New Artist, will increase from 10 nominations to 8.
