The ULE, pending the “last push” to request Medicine
The University of León will give “the last push” to the application it is preparing to claim the implementation of the Medicine degree on the Vegazana Campus in the coming weeks. This was confirmed yesterday by the rector, Juan Francisco García Marín, who has already specified that it will be in the month of February when the Leonese academic institution will officially present its proposal, which will be accompanied by a report that will include all the work already carried out to advance in the implantation of the title with guarantees.
The possibility of expanding the Medicine degree in Castilla y León, where it is currently taught in only two faculties —Salamanca and Valladolid— has been fully involved in the political campaign ahead of the next elections. The socialists of Burgos and the group of voters Soria now! They have already begun to move to urge the Board to implement the degree on their campuses, while the University of León prepares its proposal to obtain this long-awaited degree, for two decades and that would complete the offer of Health Sciences, which It is spread over the two campuses: Vegazana or Ponferrada.
The rector of the University of León recovered the aspiration of the academic institution for the title of Medicine at the inauguration of the university course before the Minister of Education, Rocío Lucas. Since then, the rectory team has worked to prepare a solid memory that allows for a degree that could become a real boost for Vegazana, given the high demand of students year after year for this degree, which is, therefore, one of the ones that requires the highest cut-off grade from students after the Ebau. Despite the fact that in Castilla y León there are only two faculties of Medicine, in other autonomies such as Andalusia the title is taught in seven of the eight provinces —at the expense of Huelva also requesting it— and in cities like Madrid or Barcelona they teach it up to seven universities.
