The WiZink Center was the fifth venue in the world that sold the most tickets in 2022

The WiZink Center arrives at sold out. The Madrid venue, managed by Impulsa Eventos e Instalaciones since 2014, has become the fifth venue that sold the most tickets during 2022, with around one million tickets sold. In addition, it is placed in second position on a European scale.

Thus, the pavilion has only been surpassed by Madison Square Garden in New York, with 1.7 million tickets sold, followed by the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, with 1.2 million tickets, the Arena de Monterrey, with 1.1 million tickets and The OVO Hydro, in Glasgow, which sold 1.1 million tickets last year.

During 2022, the WiZink Center hosted 182 events, of which 68 were sports, among which stand out the Euroleague and Liga Endesa matches that Real Madrid CF has played at home, and those of Movistar Estudiantes, as well as the match between the Spanish senior men’s team against Greece. The venue also hosted a Premier Padel tournament and an international round of boxing.

Too 107 concerts were held, with artists such as Harry Styles, Rosaía with C. TanganaAitana, Dua Lipa, Backstreet Boys, The Cure or Maluma, who broke the venue record with a total of 17,400 spectators.

By 2023, the multidisciplinary space has 202 confirmed events plannedwhich represents an increase of 11% compared to 2022. Among them, the concerts by Michael Bublé, Roger Waters or Hans Zimmer stand out.

The WiZink Center was inaugurated in 2005 and has a capacity for 17,453 spectators. In the case of sporting events, the capacity is reduced to 13,963 spectators. Among the outstanding sporting events at the venue, the 2007 Eurobasket stands out, which saw the Russian team win the gold medal, which beat the Spanish team by a tight 59-60.

In 2016, the venue changed its name to the current Wizink Center and leaving behind the naming from Barclaycard Center. This change occurred after Wizink, a company specializing in online banking that controls Banco Popular, acquired Barclaycard’s business in Spain and Portugal.
