The XV Conference on the Prevention and Spread of Cancer will be held in La Bañese in 2024.

The local council of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) in La Bañes organized the XV Conference on Cancer Prevention and Propagation this November, which will cover key topics in the prevention, treatment and recovery from cancer. This event, which will consist of three days of conferences, will take place in the auditorium of the Tierras Bañezanas Cultural Center at 20:00 from November 19 to 21.

On the first day, November 19, the event will feature Mr. Estanislao Luis Calabuig, President of Contra el Cancer León, who will present the services that AECC provides both locally and regionally, focusing on supporting patients, their families and resources allocated for scientific research. Calabuig’s presentation aims to showcase the association’s programs, which cover everything from emotional support to information, legal and social counseling for victims.

On November 20, Dr. Miguel García Sanz, urologist at the Medical Complex of the University of León (CAULE) and secretary of the uro-oncology committee, will focus his speech on raising awareness of prostate and bladder cancer. This conference will highlight the importance of early detection and men’s health in cancer prevention, topics of growing interest in modern oncology. In addition, García Sanz will detail current therapeutic options and how advances in treatment are helping to improve patients’ quality of life.

To complete the cycle, on November 21, Ms. Patricia Pérez Liebana will discuss the fundamental role of the multidisciplinary team in the cancer process, emphasizing the collaboration between different specialists who work together to monitor and cure cancer patients. Perez Liebana’s intervention will provide a comprehensive vision of care and support at all stages of cancer, from diagnosis to rehabilitation.

These days provide an opportunity to raise public awareness of the importance of prevention and support for survivors, providing necessary knowledge to both the community and healthcare professionals interested in advances in the field of oncology.
