TheShy considers LoL hiatus after disappointing World Finals against T1

Weibo Gaming’s TheShy is considering taking a break from professional gaming after a disappointing LoL Worlds final against T1.

As the 2023 Worlds Finals conclude, Faker was announced as arguably the best in the game as he lifted his fourth Summoner Cup with T1’s dominant victory against Weibo Gaming.

However, despite the results suggesting otherwise, Weibo was filled with LPL veterans and several former World Cup winners, with a particular focus on their star top laner, TheShy.

However, after a disappointing performance in the final, TheShy was asked what his future would look like after the 2023 World Cup, and he said he would consider taking a break.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, he was asked if his long-term arm injury would affect whether he would play next year, to which he replied that he would consider taking a break from the professional game.

Translated by Ashley Kang of Korizon EsportsHe said, “To be honest, my arm injury has gone well. I’m good to play. I think my health is good enough to play. However, I don’t think it’s wrong to take a break either. So I’ll spend a little time considering my options.”

The arm injury he suffered in 2018 while in Invictus Gaming needed surgery to fix, he even revealed in an interview at the time that the injury was so severe that doctors said he might not be able to use his right hand at all.

The scar left by the injury is quite considerable, as can be seen in a photograph of the player published on Weibo, and that is why he usually performs on stage with a sleeve on his right arm.
