Defense of the opposition leader Luis Fernando Camachoarrested for the events of the 2019 crisis in boliviandenounced this Thursday that a hidden camera was found in his cell, something he said is a “serious violation” to his privacy since he received his wife several times in that space.

Lawyer Martin Camacho told the media that in a communication with Fatima Jordan, wife of the governor of Santa Cruzone of the few people authorized to enter her cell, it was found that “they have found the camera” and that she “has it in her possession.”

The legal representative mentioned that the lawyers representing the Governor of Santa Cruz have not been allowed to enter the prison and that the visits that Camacho has received have been limited to his close relatives, including his wife.

The jurist Camacho assured that it will be the authorities of Penitentiary Regime and the Ministry of Government (Interior) those who “must respond” to this complaint since in addition to the governor of Santa Cruz, his wife “has a special right to privacy.”

The prison authorities have not yet spoken out about the complaint filed by Governor Camacho’s lawyers and wife.

Governor Camacho was arrested on December 28 in a questionable police operation and was later transferred to Peace where a judge ordered his preventive detention in the Chonchocoro prison for four months.

The opponent is investigated for the crime of terrorism in the case called “coup d’état I” related to the political and social crisis of 2019, although the accusation was expanded to active bribery and seduction of troops, which is the usurpation of political or military command.

The ruling party points out that in 2019 there was a “coup d’état” against the then president Evo Moraleswhile the opposition maintains that the protests that led to the resignation of the president were due to fraud in his favor in the annulled elections of that year.
