Ahead of World Contraception Day, celebrated on 26 September, the Argentine Contraceptive Medical Association (AMADA) promotes the #DoubleProtectionLessWorry campaign. The winning pair: condoms and another contraceptive method of your choice (short or long term, with or without hormones) to guarantee better protection.
“This campaign highlights the essential combination of condoms with another chosen contraceptive method. This combination not only prevents unintended pregnancy, but also establishes an effective barrier against sexually transmitted infections”, AMADA President Lia Arribas Cast light on.
On behalf of the association, he emphasized that the message is clear, that it is an act of self-care and respect for others. “Regardless of age, status or relationship, prevention of unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) become indispensable pillars in privacy,” Aribas said in a statement.
With regard to contraceptive methods, Argentina has a wide range of options that allow individual choice. These methods can be combined with condom use to increase their effectiveness. From short-term options like injections, patches, pills, and vaginal rings to long-term options like IUDs and implants.
“Sexually transmitted infections are a reality we cannot ignore. Diseases such as HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, human papillomavirus (HPV), hepatitis B and C can have a lasting impact. Condoms, as heroes in this strategy in , stands as a necessary defense against them”, he asserts at the end.
The campaign invites everyone to join this essential cause for sexual health and wellness by sharing your experiences, learnings and advice on your social networks using the hashtag #DoubleProtectionLessWorry.
