Mark ZuckerbergFacebook creator and Meta CEO made a prediction about the future mobile phonesstating that in the near future they may be replaced by devices that are more integrated into people’s daily lives.
According to Zuckerberg, augmented reality glasses will play a decisive role in these changes, becoming the main tool for communication and entertainment.
The businessman believes these devices can offer a more immersive and flexible experience than current smartphones, allowing people to interact with the digital world in a more natural and less invasive way.
“In 10 years, a lot of people won’t be carrying their phones anymore, they’ll be using glasses for everything,” Zuckerberg predicted during an interview at Meta Connect 2024.
Zuckerberg has repeatedly expressed his belief that the future of computing lies not in the mobile devices currently known, but in smart glasses that will provide a more immersive and practical augmented reality experience.
According to him, Although cell phones have played an important role in the technological era, they are reaching a saturation point and have limited innovation. He believes that smartphones have stopped advancing significantly and that augmented reality glasses could be the key to the next big breakthrough.
“Phones are small and they are distracting and take away from face-to-face communication,” he said. In contrast, augmented reality glasses can integrate more naturally into everyday life, allowing digital experiences to merge with the physical world more seamlessly and less intrusively.
Orion is a prototype of augmented reality glasses that Meta has been developing for several years. Although the model will not be commercialized in its current version due to its high cost, Zuckerberg noted that it symbolizes the direction in which computer technology will develop in the future.
He says the glasses will allow users to see holograms superimposed on real environments, which could revolutionize the way we work, play and communicate. “Imagine being in a coffee shop and being able to display multiple work screens in front of you, or even play Pong on a virtual table,” he said.
Nevertheless, Zuckerberg admitted that the glasses are not yet ready for mass launchsince there are problems with its production at an affordable price.
Mark Zuckerberg expects that in the future there will be more artificial intelligence agents than humans. According to him, “We will live in a world where there will eventually be hundreds of millions or even billions of different AI agents.”
In an interview with The Rundown podcast hosted by Rowan Cheung, Meta CEO explained that companies and content creators will use smart virtual assistants to save time, strengthen their connection with subscribers and increase their revenue.
“Every company in the future, just as it has an email address, a website and a social media presence today, will have an AI agent that its customers can communicate with,” he gives an example.
The Facebook founder and CEO of Meta is adamant that these AI agents, trained in the information and values of creators, will be able to interact with followers, saving time for the people whose job it is to create content for Meta’s social networks. .
“I think we will live in a world where there will eventually be hundreds of millions or billions of different AI agents.– he completes his thought.
