Talking about Lancia Ypsilon meant talking about a small city car, born back in 2008, with petrol and diesel engines with power up to 100 hp… until now. The Italian company presented at the Milan exhibition the new generation of Ypsilon: fully electric and with upcoming sales in Spain.
This is a completely updated car that has little in common with the original model, except for a purely urban atmosphere. The latter is inevitable since the platform on which it is based is the CMP, shared with other models such as the Peugeot e-208 or Opel Corsa-e.

In terms of design, the version presented by Lancia is the result of an exclusive collaboration with Cassina, an Italian home design firm. The design language is modern, with great value of LED headlights at the frontand a rear end with elements of the Lancia Stratos, a sports car from the brand that competed in rallies between the 70s and 80s.
Although it shares elements with its Stellantis brothers, it is the only one with Level 2 autonomous driving.
It’s a small car, 4.08 meters long, 1.76 meters wide and 1.44 meters high. In terms of size, they are practically copied from their Stellantis brothers, although this model wants to stand out with its technological arsenal. In fact, it’s the only small car in the group with Level 2 autonomous driving.
This allows for partial driving automation, in which auxiliary systems are able to control the vehicle in the transverse and longitudinal direction. Despite this, the driver’s attention is always required.
Inside, it has two huge 10.25-inch screens that are compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The seats, upholstered and personalized, are equipped with electronic adjustment, massage and heating as standard, at least in the Cassina version.
As for the mechanics, we are talking about a car that will come in a single version. One with a 51 kWh lithium battery powering a 115 kW (156 hp) electric motor with a maximum torque of 260 Nm. According to Lancia, the WLTP cycle autonomy is 403 kilometers. Charging is promised from 0 to 80% in 24 minutes, with an approved consumption of 14.3 and 14.6 kWh for every 100 km.
The new electric Lancia Ypsilon will arrive in Spain in the summer, the starting price is still unknown. The Cassina version will cost €39,000 in Italy, although the standard version is expected to cost around €35,000 excluding assistance.
This car will be produced at the Figueruelas plant in Zaragoza along with its Stellantis brothers, and production has already begun. Similarly, a petrol version of the Mild Hybrid is expected, the price and availability of which are still unknown.
