The wholesale electricity market, the so-called “pool”, will register negative prices for eight hours this Sunday, from 10:00 to 19:00, with the lowest price being -1.50 euros per megawatt-hour (MWh) ) from 15:00 to 16:00. According to the Iberian Energy Market Operator (OMIE).
These eight hours of negative prices, added to the hour of zero euros per megawatt from 9 to 10 am, will make the average electricity price in Spain this Sunday equal to 2.17 euros/MWh. The maximum value will be recorded between 9 and 22 pm and will be 8.93 euros/MWh.
TO ZERO EURO HALF HOUR APRIL
The ASE Group estimates that the price of electricity remained at zero for half an hour in April and will continue to decline until the end of the month.
In particular, a total of 84 hours (20.6% of the total) recorded negative prices, with the average price from 11:00 to 17:00 being -€0.08 per megawatt-hour (MWh). In addition, there were another 117 watches – 28.7% – with “zero” prices.
The average value in April for the “pool” is 5.68 €/MWh, which is a minimum since there are records for such a long period. From the beginning of the month until April 21, the maximum value achieved is 19.94 euros/MWh, and the minimum is 0.44 euros/MWh.
