University News – Ucopress publishes the e-book “Communication Book of the 1st International Congress on Materials for Sustainable Construction (MatCons)”
This book brings together the research of more than 50 researchers who took part in the First International Congress on Materials for Sustainable Construction, held in Granada last June.
The chapters included in this book bring together research conducted by numerous researchers, doctoral students, master’s students and undergraduate students, focusing on various circular economy topics such as cement-based materials, life cycle assessment (LCA) and carbon footprint, green technologies concrete. , asphalts, alkali activation processes, etc., aiming to collectively work towards increasing sustainability in the construction industry.
In total, the book includes 29 reports that showed promising results, such as studies on the production of mortars and concretes by replacing natural aggregates with recycled aggregates, biomass ash or recycled glass. . It is also worth emphasizing in this area the use of alternative complementary cementitious materials such as ceramic powder and mixed recycled aggregate powder, which is also included in self-compacting concrete. On this topic, proposals have been made for the use of plant and textile fibers reinforcing cement-based composite materials, as well as a study of the durability of structural concrete with aggregate from construction and demolition waste.
