As soon as he finished high school, Michel decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and started a small business that consisted of selling basic necessities. At the beginning, since he did not have much capital, he only bought a sack of sugar and located himself in a corner of the Año Nuevo market to sell as a street vendor. Thanks to the low prices that he managed, within a few hours he was able to finish selling all his merchandise.
The next day he returned to the same place, but with two sacks of sugar and again he was successful. On the third day she took a risk with five sacks and history repeated itself. So he realized that there really was potential in the grocery business.
A year later, he replaced his wheelbarrow with a tricycle, his first purchase, to be able to move ten sacks in a single trip. He was encouraged, then, to sell bagged salt and rice. “Everything was going great. I sold very well because I made an effort to serve my clients well. Thanks to that confidence, I began to leave products on credit, which helped me to have more income”, he said in an interview.

Its popularity grew so much that to satisfy its clientele it had to open its first grocery store, which it called Comercial Vega, and since then it has not stopped growing. Today, that small business that was born in the thriving district of Comas has expanded throughout the capital. It has wholesale stores, super wholesalers and markets in San Juan de Lurigancho, Cercado de Lima, Breña, Villa María del Triunfo, Villa El Salvador, Chorrillos, among other places.
