A video of British singer Adele holding the flag at a recent concert is viral online with the false claim that she was seen holding the Palestinian flag in solidarity with the people in Gaza amid the Israel-Hamas conflict.
BOOM found that the claims are false and that in the viral video, Adele was seen holding the flag of Mexico and not Palestine.
The recent Israel-Hamas conflict began on 7 October when the latter launched an unprecedented attack on Israeli troops, taking more than 200 hostages and killing about 1,200 Israelis. Israel then launched retaliatory airstrikes and invaded the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of more than 10,000 Palestinians. As humanitarian concerns grew in Gaza, many celebrities, including Angelina Jolie, mark ruffaloGigi and Bella Hadid have expressed their support for the Palestinian people’s call for a ceasefire.
The video shows Adele singing and walking through the crowd holding a flag along with other gifts given by fans. The video reads, “Adele singing while holding the Palestine flag when we were little❤️🇵🇸” and is being shared with the caption, “Adele held the Palestine flag on her show today”

BOOM found that the viral claims are false and the current video shows Adele holding the Mexican flag in her hands at the concert.
We found that the viral video had a watermark of a TikTok account @_dailymedia_.
Taking a clue from this, we searched for the original video on TikTok using the keywords “Adele when we were young” and found a post shared by the @adelelaurieadkins_br account on October 2, 2023.
The post featured a longer version of the viral video and showed Adele handing the flag back to the concert crew. This is the point where the flag is more clearly visible.
After closely inspecting this flag, we were able to understand that it was not the flag of Palestine, but of Mexico. Below is a comparison of screenshots of the viral video with the flags of both Mexico and Palestine
The viral video is from the 29th week of Adele’s special residency called ‘Weekends with Adele’ at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The pictures shared by Chinta can be seen on Adele’s official Here,
At the time of writing this report, we have not found any reports of Adele expressing her support for Palestine or the singer making any public comments on the issue.
