This Wednesday marks 693 days since the war in Ukraine began with the Russian invasion. The Kremlin is emphasizing its strategy of fighting from the front line while Kiev is trying to gain a foothold on the left bank of the Dnieper.

Russia has shot down 12 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones, including eight over the city of Voronezh and four others over Belgorov, according to its officials. For its part, Ukraine has ordered the evacuation of more than 3,000 people from two towns near the front in the Kupyansk district of Kharkov province.

Switzerland hosts the Davos Forum, where Zelensky met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. On the same platform, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has once again supported Kiev in the face of Russian aggression.
