What is the price of veg? | The weight loss drug arrived in Alicante to solve the Ozempic crisis
On May 1, a new medicine was launched in Alicante and the rest of the country, designed to solve problems with excess weight. This is a veg product, which, in addition to the weight loss effect, is combined with its vocation to solve the supply problems that arise when taking Ozempic. … . The latter drug has had availability issues in recent months due to its weight-loss effects, despite being intended for diabetic patients.
In this context, wegovy entered the peninsular market, intended exclusively for weight loss and promising to reduce the high demand for ozempic. José Luis Soler, member of the pharmacy office of the Official College of Pharmacy of Alicante, refutes possible false myths about Vegovia and that its effects will not be noticeable unless its use is accompanied by healthy lifestyle habits. “Wegovy does not promise reliable results; “This should be supplemented with a low-calorie diet and physical activity.”
Soler notes that this new drug can only be purchased with a doctor’s prescription, limited to certain profiles. “It is indicated for patients with a body mass index (BMI) of more than 30, a figure above which a person is considered obese. It can also be prescribed to patients with a BMI of 27 or higher if they have underlying health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension or cardiovascular disease.
What is the price of veg?
Although Wegovy requires a medical prescription, it is not funded by Social Security, so the user pays the full price. The latter ranges from 180 euros for an initial dose to 292 euros for a maintenance dose. As for the administration of doses, this is done in ascending order: with doses of 0.25 milligrams (mg) until the fourth week of treatment; 0.5 mg from five to eight; 1 mg from the ninth to the twelfth week; and 1.5 mg until the sixteenth week.
From this point on, booster doses come into play, which are 2.4 mg. José Luis Soler explains that the final duration of treatment depends on the doctor’s decision and depends on the progress made by the patient.
The drug is administered using a prefilled pen subcutaneously into the thigh, abdomen, or upper arm. Reception is carried out once a week at any time of the day, not necessarily on an empty stomach.
