WHATSAPP SCAM | They warn about a new internet scam: deactivate this feature on your mobile to avoid it.
This browser does not support the video element.
one of the greatest police problems this summer this is to avoid internet fraud. The holiday season, when people spend more time at home and are unemployed, browse the Internet without any restrictions, not taking into account that you cannot click on any links.
It’s the same in WhatsApp, and in this case you need to be especially careful, because in this social network you are even calmer, since these are already known contacts. But this does not prevent them from stealing important information in the blink of an eye, for example, our bank account, by downloading a document or clicking on a link.
Moreover, in most cases, the “evil” link may come from a contact who simply forwards the received message, even without having bad intentions. That is why you should disable the automatic document download feature.
How do I disable this feature?
Open WhatsApp on your mobile device.
Go to settings:
-
On Android, tap the three vertical dots in the top-right corner and select Settings.
-
On iPhone, tap Settings in the lower right corner.
Select Storage & Data:
Here you will find options to control automatic media downloads.
Set up automatic download:
You will see the Automatic Media Download sections.
Tap each category (Photos, Audio, Videos, Documents) and uncheck the automatic download options.
Typically, these categories will have options such as “Use Mobile Data,” “Use Wi-Fi,” and “Roaming.” To disable automatic downloads, make sure that no options are selected for “Documents.”
Save changes and exit settings.
This will prevent WhatsApp from automatically downloading received documents, allowing you to manually choose which ones you want to download and when.
