WhatsApp will ban taking screenshots of profile photos
WhatsApp options have different privacy settings that we can configure depending on the type of contacts we have.
For example, regarding the profile photo, we can choose not to be seen by anyone, so that only our contacts or selected contacts can see it, but now the engineers of the Meta instant messaging app want to go much further.
According to Wabetainfo, beta version 2.24.4.25 has a new feature that makes it almost impossible to take a screenshot of the profile photo of any contact in whatsapp.
Once implemented, if you try to take a screenshot of a contact’s profile photo on WhatsApp, the result will be a black screenand with a pop-up message about it. “Unable to take a screenshot due to application limitations.”
Essentially, it aims to prevent attackers from taking private photos of some WhatsApp contacts without their consent.
And we are talking about directly blocking the ability to take screenshots of users’ profile photos on WhatsApp, allows the application to further strengthen the concept of privacy and user consent.
Although this new feature is not foolproof in preventing our profile pictures from being borrowed in the app, the truth is that it creates more serious obstacles and thus the privacy of users can be protected.
