Nicaragua’s Shennis Palacios crowned Miss Universe 2023 on Saturday in El Salvador, defeating rivals from more than 80 countries to claim the Central American nation’s first victory in a global beauty pageant.
Who is Shennis Palacios?
Palacios, 23, graduated in mass media from the Universidad CentroAmericana in Managua, Nicaragua.
She was crowned Miss Teen Nicaragua in 2016 and seven years later, she won the Miss Universe Nicaragua title to secure her spot at this weekend’s Miss Universe.
Palacios also competed in the rival Miss World pageant in 2021Won the title of Miss World Nicaragua in 2020. She ranked in the top 40 in Miss World.
2022 winner crowned by Gabriel
At Miss Universe in San Salvador, the capital of Salvador, Palacios edged out Thailand’s Antonio Porsild to take the 2023 title, while Australia’s Moray Wilson completed the podium.
