Xbox Games Showcase 2024 Date Announced Along With Separate Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War Stream

Xbox has announced a new Xbox Games Showcase for 2024, cheekily titled “Xbox Games Showcase followed by a (REDACTED) Direct.” As you can see from the header, Xbox will hold two presentations: a main one for all first and third generation games and a second one dedicated exclusively to an unnamed project. The format isn’t new, as the company aired a Starfield Direct right after last year’s Xbox Games Showcase 2023.

Xbox Games Showcase 2024 date set for June 9 and viewers can watch the live stream on the Xbox YouTube, Twitch and Facebook pages at 10:00 AM PT/1:00 PM ET/7:00 PM CET. A second secret title showcase will take place immediately after this.

What to expect from Xbox Games Showcase 2024

The Xbox Games Showcase 2024 will feature games from the company’s own studios, including Xbox Game Studios, Bethesda and Activision/Blizzard. We may also see some new hardware announced, as the company introduced the 1TB Xbox Series S last year (buy it on Amazon).

Xbox has a lot of games in development. For example, there are games like Perfect Dark, State of Decay 3 and Everwild that we’ve seen very little of and are awaiting an update. Then there are games like Clockwork Revolution and South of Midnight, which debuted last year.

Fable, one of the most anticipated games from Playground Games, has been in development since at least 2017. The game should be showcased with hopefully extensive gameplay sequences and a release date. Additionally, it is likely that we will learn the release date for the first Starfield DLC, Shattered Space, which will be released this fall, Avowed, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

Gears 6, the next installment in the long-running Gears of War series, is rumored to be revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase 2024. Coalition, the studio behind the franchise, has remained silent since the release of Gears 5 in 2019. If Gears is announced 6, we can expect the game to have amazing graphics as The Coalition is no stranger to achieving impressive results using the Unreal Engine.

Finally, with over 30 studios under the Xbox umbrella, there’s plenty of potential for surprise announcements. So even your wildest wishes, like a new Kazooie banjo, can come true.

Call of Duty Black: Black Ops Gulf War

While Xbox hasn’t given any clues as to which title will be revealed during the second presentation, many believe it will be the next Call of Duty title.

For people who don’t know, Call of Duty gets a new installment every year, with the latest three games being Call of Duty: Vanguard (2021), Modern Warfare II (2022), and Modern Warfare III (2023). This year’s CoD is rumored to be a Black Ops game called “Black Ops Gulf War.”

Unfortunately, we don’t know many details about Call of Duty Black Ops Gulf War, if that’s what it’s called.

Finally, Call of Duty finds itself at the center of Microsoft’s fight with the Federal Trade Commission over its Activision/Blizzard acquisition. So it will be interesting to see if the company keeps Call of Duty fully cross-platform or if Xbox/Game Pass gets some exclusive content.
