Ministry of Health Namibia a large number of cases have been recorded malaria in the country and announced outbreaks in 15 districts since January (they exceeded the epidemic threshold).
In January, 2,476 cases of malaria were registered. Some 292 cases involve hospitalization, including serious cases, and 10 deaths.
Affected areas include Katima Mulilo 936 cases of malaria, Enkhana (275), Engela (216), Nkurenkuru (177), Andara (148), Okongo (131), Rundu (115), Nyanagana (72), Oshakati (67). Onanjokwe (64), Nkamagoro (49), Omutia (48), Tsumeb 33, Outapi (26), Osikuku (24) and all other districts have recorded about 145 cases.
