21 Savage, Cardi B and others among 300 artists for the “No AI FRAUD” law

21 Savage, Cardi B and Nicki Minaj joined artists such as Bette Midler, Gloria Estefan and Jason Isbell to support a proposed new law that would ban artificial intelligence-generated likenesses of their images and voices.

Billboard reports that a total of 300 artists representing a variety of genres have rallied behind the Anti-Fake Replicas and Unauthorized Duplication of Artificial Intelligence Act (also known as the Anti-AI Fraud Act), which is currently making its way through the House of Representatives. The Stop AI Fraud Act, backed by the Human Art Campaign, if successfully passed, would establish federal protections against the exploitation of art by artificial intelligence.

“The Anti-AI Fraud Act will protect your fundamental human right to your voice and appearance, protecting everyone from unconsensual deepfakes,” the Campaign said in an ad posted on Friday (Feb. 2). “Protect your individuality. Support HR 6943.”

The bill was first proposed in the House of Representatives on January 10 and received bipartisan support in Congress.

It’s not just artists who are expressing their support for this act. According to the publication, the No AI Fraud Act also received support from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), Universal Music Group, the National Music Publishers Association (NMPA), the Recording Academy, SoundExchange, the American Association of Independent Music (A2IM) and the Academy Latin recording.

Back in November, Cardi B made it clear exactly where she stands in the artificial intelligence debate when she threatened to file a lawsuit against a company that used a deepfake of her voice to promote internet scams.

On November 22, Bardi shared a clip on Twitter/X in which her fake voice was dubbed over a real video of her.

“Yo, it’s Cardi’s girl and I’m going to show you how to put $16,000 in your pocket for free right now!” AI Cardi says in the clip. “So pay attention! The state is distributing these packs to each of you. You don’t even need a job! It’s all part of a stimulus program designed to help Americans get back on their feet. They send out these health care spending cards every month, filled with these green ones!”

In her retweet, Cardi wrote: “AI gone crazy hmm… another lawsuit that fell right into my lap… I love easy money.”
