Losing weight is a difficult task for many people, even if they seem to be doing everything right. They eat healthy, balanced and nutritious meals, but the numbers on the scale don’t go down.
This is a common frustration, especially among those who are trying to improve their diet but aren’t seeing results. Nutritionist Maria, known online as “Food with Maria” and with nearly half a million followers on TikTok, he addressed the situation on his networks.
As he explains in his latest video, there are many factors that can interfere with weight loss, even when following a healthy diet.
Maria notes that a common reason is that people don’t know what portions they’re consuming. Although they choose healthy foods, the quantity may be excessive or the frequency of meals may be high. with lots of snacks or “liquid calories” that they don’t think.
In addition, factors such as stress, lack of sleep, hormonal problems and unrealistic expectations may also play a role: “It may be because there are basis for stress and sleep didn’t work because there are hormonal problems or because expectations are unrealistic,” Maria comments in the video.
What stands out most in his thoughts, however, is how the influence of social media can lead to problems in your relationship with food. His young patients have difficulty losing weight because they avoid carbohydrates entirely or eat minimal portions.
“You’re not losing weight because… you eat too little because you don’t eat carbs and because you have a bad relationship with food,” explains Maria.
The nutritionist argues that low carbohydrate intake and extreme carbohydrate restriction causes anxiety and causes the body to “store fat” as a defense mechanism, as low carbohydrate intake is interpreted as a sign of deficiency.
Mary’s message is clear: Eating healthy isn’t always enough to lose weight. Factors such as portion sizes, frequency of intake, attitudes toward food, and social media influences can complicate the process.
To achieve healthy weight loss, it is important to understand that balance and a good relationship with food are just as important as nutritional choices.
