JAN.- The Caja Jaena Rural Foundation and the Andújar Association of Relatives of People with Alzheimer’s and Other Dementias (AFA Andújar) signed a cooperation agreement between both organizations to develop a project aimed at providing rehabilitation classes for affected people. illnesses and other dementias. Foundation manager Luis Jesús García-Lomas emphasized the importance of this type of treatment in “improving the quality of life of people with Alzheimer’s disease and their families through the use of technology that “has been demonstrated to be an effective stimulation method capable of improving cognitive function in people with dementia.”

With this agreement, the Iliturgitan group will begin using a program called Neuron Up, which includes more than 10,000 cognitive stimulation activities classified by intervention area, user age, language and activity type. This tool “allows us to personalize actions, adapt them to the characteristics and needs of our users and thus increase their motivation and productivity,” explained AFA President Andújar Antonio Porras.

The initiative, which will directly benefit 35 people, will allow users to comfortably undertake rehabilitation from home at any time of the day, with the ability to continue therapy remotely if they are sick or on holiday. This program will enable participating individuals to stop, as far as possible, the progression of cognitive and functional impairment; at the same time, they maintain their mental abilities and level of autonomy, and reduce possible emotional problems.
