AI detects more than 160,000 new types of viruses at a time

This is the largest study of new viruses published to date. New species have been discovered in the atmosphere, hot springs and hydrothermal vents of the deep ocean.

An international team of researchers has just announced the discovery of 161,979 new types of viruses thanks to the use of artificial intelligence. A milestone in the history of knowledge of these small, ubiquitous and still not fully understood creatures.
