AMLO praised Europe’s “right to security” and announced that the health system will be strengthened

This Sunday, January 29, the President of the Republic, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO), He went to the Hospital “Enf. María de la Luz Delgado Morales” located in Temixco, Morelos to carry out supervision of the health plan IMSS-Wellness.

During the press conference issued from the state governed by the morenista Cuauhtemoc Blanco, The federal president once again recognized the application of the “welfare state” in Europe, which he aspires to implement in Mexico.

“Throughout Europe, after the Second World War, the most important thing that was achieved was the application of what is known as the “welfare state”. What is the welfare state? In guaranteeing the safety of the person, the human being, from the cradle to the grave, ”he assured.

In this context, López Obrador explained that this system seeks to guarantee the right to food, to work, the right to a fair wage, to health, and also to a pension.

After his statement, the federal president accused that in Spain there is an “attempt to privatize health”, for which Spanish citizens are acting accordingly.

“They are calling a demonstration in February, I will not be able to go, but if I could go, I would be there with them defending health, which is a fundamental human right”he assured.

Following his comments regarding the European healthcare system, the Chief Executive He assured that in Mexico progress has been made in different fundamental aspects of the health service, which he divided into facilities, medicines and medical personnel.

In this sense, he added that not only has it been sought to have quality and sufficient equipment, but also that it has maintenance. Regarding medicines, he added that his government already has a sufficient supply, both for 2023 and 2024.

“Medications are going to be delivered free of charge, not just the basic box, they are all going to be guaranteed,” he declared.

Likewise, and as usual, the president once again lashed out at the opposition bloc, calling the administrations prior to his government “irresponsible” since, in his opinion, “they left the country without doctors and without specialists.” Therefore, he reiterated the opening of 60 medical schools throughout the country as well as spaces in public universities.

It should be noted that in recent times the population has indicated their disagreement with respect to various points of the health services.

One of the most noted points has been the shortage of medicines. It is enough to recall the demands made in 2022 by organizations formed by parents of children with cancer.

And it is that in February of that year, and through its page of Facebookthe NGO Movement for Health and Social Integrity released a statement in which he assured that the drug shortage is a reality caused by the negligence and irresponsibility of many public officials who It has cost the lives of more than 3,000 children.

During the event that took place on January 29, the general director of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), Zoé Robledo, who announced that currently 60% of Morelos do not have social security.

“60% of the population throughout the state does not have IMSS, does not have ISSSTE and has to be attended by the Ministry of Health,” he declared.

In this sense, the official reiterated that it becomes vitally important that services, medicines and studies are not charged, since this will achieve a further step towards guaranteeing the right to health.

For his part, the owner of the Secretary of Health, Jorge Alcocer Varela, He recognized that it is still necessary to reinforce work to meet the demand for medical care not only in Morelos but also in different states of the republic.
