Anonymous email once again disrupts the supposed peace at Red Bull

It looks like the 2024 Formula 1 season is off to a rocky start for Red Bull. The energy drink team has been going through a difficult few weeks since allegations of inappropriate behavior by a team leader towards an employee came to light, as reported by De Telegraaf a couple of weeks ago.

After several weeks of investigation and pre-season testing attended by Horner, an independent lawyer concluded on February 28 that the allegation of misconduct made by a Red Bull employee against Christian did not have sufficient basis to be punishable. so Hoerner could breathe easy and focus on the season that started yesterday.

However, less than 24 hours after Christian Horner was acquitted of these charges, peace was once again shattered in the Red Bull pits. The anonymous account appears to have sent an email with a Drive folder attached containing photos and screenshots of WhatsApp conversations between Red Bull’s “Core Team” and an employee.

We have learned from other media that the email may have been sent to more than 100 people in the paddock, including senior Formula 1 and FIA officials, including Stefano Domenicalli. We have also learned that the said email reached group leaders and accredited media outlets.

Official statement from Red Bull (February 28):

“An independent investigation into the allegations made against Horner has concluded and Red Bull can confirm that the complaint has been dismissed. The applicant has the right to appeal. The investigation report is confidential and contains personal information of the parties and third parties involved in the investigation. Therefore, we will not comment further out of respect for everyone involved. “Red Bull will continue to strive to meet the highest standards in the workplace.”

Christian Horner:

“I will not comment on the speculation, but I deny the allegations.”

“I respected the integrity of the independent investigation and have always cooperated fully with it,” he said. “This was a thorough and fair investigation conducted by a specialized lawyer, which resulted in the complaint being dismissed.“.
