Police arrested an armed man Saturday night who was trying to arrive at Donald Trump’s rally in Coachella, east of Los Angeles, with the intention of carrying out an attack, the Associated Press agency reported last night.
The man, a 49-year-old man from Las Vegas who was driving the truck, was in possession of a firearm, a loaded pistol, a high capacity magazine and numerous rounds of ammunition.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department announced in a statement that the arrest took place at a security checkpoint outside where the campaign event was being held.
“This incident had no impact on the safety of the former President or those attending the event,” the note said. The Trump campaign team had no comment at the time of closing.
