A group of hooded thieves ransacked the Apple store in downtown Valencia early this Monday morning after crashing a car through the store’s window. This criminal method is known as the Moon landing method. The criminals carried out the attack in just a few minutes, stole almost a hundred mobile phones and fled in two high-end cars.
According to eyewitnesses, the robbery was carried out by six hooded men. One of the thieves, maneuvering in reverse behind the wheel of one of the cars, broke out onto a section of the sidewalk where there were no posts, and pressed the gas pedal to ram and break the window.
The remaining robbers entered the store and stole all the electronic devices that were on the shelves closest to the Colon Street façade. The gang planned the coup very well and even calculated the time needed for the first police patrols to arrive.
Several neighbors called the emergency numbers 112 (Emergency Coordination Center) and 091 (National Police Intelligent Command and Control Coordination Center) to alert them of the robbery, but the criminals acted very quickly and managed to escape with the valuable loot.
The violent events took place a few minutes before four in the morning. Several patrols of the National Police and the local Valencia police rushed to Colon Street. The thieves fled in an Audi A6 and another high-end car in the direction of the CV-35 highway.
A few minutes after the robbery, several patrols set up roadblocks at the exits from the city of Valencia to establish a police cordon, but the criminals managed to elude them and escape in two cars at high speed, running several red lights.
The attack was recorded by the establishment’s surveillance cameras. The manager of the Apple store went to Colon Street and made an initial count of the stolen devices.
A few minutes after the police lost track of the thieves on the CV-35 in the municipality of Paterna, the Civil Guard alerted patrols on duty to another robbery carried out by a gang of hooded men in a restaurant located on the commercial island of Bonaire. center.
These thieves fled in an Audi Q7 and another car of the same make and model, an A6, so National Police and Civil Guard investigators exchanged data to determine whether both attacks were carried out by the same criminal group.
Four robberies in one store
The Apple store on Colon Street has been the subject of three other robberies in recent years. On January 13, 2022, a group of hooded thieves looted the establishment, smashing the wooden window frame with a sledgehammer. About 150 devices were stolen that day, including phones, computers and tablets.
On July 23, 2018, the store was robbed using the moon landing method, and in the early morning of December 12, 2017, several thieves committed another robbery of the establishment and fled in a car with a large number of electronic devices.
