Health authorities Philippines reported by April 6 from the beginning of the year 1627 cases from measles 4 deaths were recorded in the country.
Children under ten years of age account for 82% of the total number of cases. Most of them are less than five years old.
Almost half of the cases (787; 48%) occur in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), where immunization is being carried out in response to a measles outbreak.
(IRBS) non-selective is now in the second week of its intensive phase.
Until April 14, 849,728 BARMM children were vaccinated in this IRBS. The three BARMM provinces with the highest percentage of the target population vaccinated are Maguindanao del Norte (88.5%), Sulu (79.2%) and Maguindanao del Sur (72.2%). Only 2.3% of those offered vaccines delayed or refused vaccination.
The national epidemic curve of new weekly measles cases is showing signs of stabilizing, indicating that overall transmission may be slowing. The protective effects of IBS on the epidemic curve may not be seen until 4–6 weeks after its onset.
