Aragon launches flu vaccination campaign for people over 85 and hospital workers

Zaragoza, October 14 (EUROPE PRESS) –

Starting this Monday, October 14, people over 85 will be able to get vaccinated against flu and Covid-19 by booking an appointment at their health center. This Monday also marks the start of a campaign for hospital medical staff.

In addition, on October 1 last year, vaccination began in nursing homes, among medical and socio-medical staff of primary health care, as well as among pregnant women who make an appointment with their nurse.

The campaign will continue on Monday, October 21, for children aged 6 to 59 months, for whom self-registration will be open from October 17, with a pilot plan starting in 29 schools throughout Aragon.

In the latter case, children of the first and second grades of preschool education, that is, children under 3 and 4 years old from these 29 schools, will be vaccinated. On October 28, vaccination will begin in the age group from 65 to 84 years old by self-registration, which will be available from October 24; and Nov. 11 for ages 60 to 64 and at-risk groups, with open appointments available starting Nov. 7.

The main purpose of this immunization is to protect people who are more likely to have complications due to age or previous conditions.

TARGET POPULATION GROUPS FOR VACCINATION AGAINST FLU AND COVID

Because of the greater risk of complications or serious conditions from these infections, vaccination is recommended for people aged 60 years and older, people 5 years and older, residents of disability centers and nursing homes, and other people in institutions. long-term treatment and stay in closed institutions. Also people under the age of 60 with risk conditions such as diabetes mellitus, morbid obesity, chronic cardiovascular, neurological or respiratory diseases, including bronchopulmonary dysplasia, cystic fibrosis, immunosuppression and others.

In addition, pregnant women in any trimester of gestation and women in the postpartum period – up to 6 months after birth and not vaccinated during pregnancy – and people living with people who have a high degree of immunosuppression.

Cohabitants of people with other higher-risk conditions and older conditions may also be included.
