Arrested for stealing more than a hundred mobile phones from tourists

The arrested man, who is accused of crimes of robbery with violence and reception, had kept the phones – a total of 110 terminals – in a garage in Azzuca de Henares. As a precaution, they had canceled the GPS location of the stolen devices using a state-of-the-art system. The Civil Guard were searching for the now detained man last December when they found cell phones in the garage. Investigators managed to discover that they had been stolen either by negligence or by force in discos and party rooms in Madrid.

The perpetrator of the robberies had fled to Morocco in recent months to avoid arrest. However, agents learned that he had returned to Spain earlier this April and was detained in Azzuca de Henares. At the time of his arrest he had two mobile phones, also stolen and protected with the same system to avoid detection, as well as one thousand euros in cash.

The total value of the stolen phones exceeds 120,000 euros and have already been returned to their owners, most of whom are from countries such as the United Kingdom, France, Italy, the United States, Canada, the Philippines or Australia.
