Besides the greenery and praise – more than deserved – from the world of football, Barça’s women’s title poker hides an additional prize: a bonus 80,000 euros. Relevo has learned that Joan Laporta – the club’s president – wanted to celebrate his players’ milestone by doubling their bonus. Another gesture (certainly not the last) of gratitude to the vintage team, coming directly from the highest levels.
The award was agreed following the club’s third Champions League title in Bilbao in a conversation with the Kule team. It is logical that this news was received with joy by the footballers, who once again saw their titles recognized in an institution that is going through difficult times in relation to its male counterpart and in which they, as Joan Laporta admitted, repeatedly called them “heroines” and “ one of the fundamental pillars of the club.”
From €40,000 to €80,000
After winning the Super Cup, League F and Copa del Rey, the Barça players agreed on a bonus of €40,000 per player. However, victory over Lyon in the recent Champions League final in Bilbao brought the reward (another one). The figure mentioned above was doubled by the milestone they had just reached: four titles in a season. This historical figure increased the cash prize that a team full of stars would receive for their sporting achievements. In short, almost two million euros in premiums.
In many cases, the above amount exceeds the salary that many F-League players receive. Taking into account the economic situation in which the club finds itself, Joan Laporta once again expressed his gratitude to the Barça women, which proves year after year that they are the best team in the world.
Interestingly, Barça’s prize for its players is significantly higher than what it received for winning the Queen’s Cup and the Super Cup… for the club, not individually. As Relevo reported, the Blaugrana club received 20,000 euros for the victory over Real Sociedad (8-0) in the cup final and 25,000 for the same against Levante (7-0) in a significant match on January 20 in Butarca. League F, according to this media, the champion does not receive specific money for the title of champion, as is the case in men’s football, since this is not established in the competition regulations. The largest figure comes from the Champions League: a total of 1.4 million euros for the club.
