Today Blizzard announced and released remasters of the first two installments of the Warcraft saga, as well as a major update to Warcraft III: Reforged, a remaster of the third game.
As part of the franchise’s thirtieth anniversary celebrations tomorrow, the North American company has decided to bring back two real-time strategy classics, although curiously, about eight years ago, it stated that it was not in its plans to remaster them because “they are no longer brought pleasure.”
Warcraft Remastered, in addition to new hand-drawn graphics (which can be reverted to the original with the press of a key), has “modern controls”, user interface improvements and a host of quality of life improvements. Warcraft 2 Remastered, in turn, also has a completely redesigned graphics section and retains the original multiplayer and compatibility with maps created by the community throughout this time.
A remaster of the first game is available on Battle.net for €9.99, while a remaster of the second costs €14.99. Also available is the Battle Chest package, which for €39.99 includes both games and Warcraft III: Reforged.
The latter is receiving a 2.0 update today, with tweaks to settings and lighting, a redesigned UI, and a “lot” of quality-of-life improvements.
