Jamie Lynn Spears, sister of Britney Spears, will be the protagonist and producer of the sequel to the series that catapulted her to fame, “Zoey 101”, popularized at the beginning of this millennium.
According to the specialized media Variety, Nickelodeon has already begun production of the film, inspired by the original story, under the title “Zoey 102”.
Spears will reunite with part of the cast of the 2005 series that was abruptly canceled three years later after the actress’ teenage pregnancy.
Some of the actors who have already been confirmed in the project are Erin Sander, Sean Flynn, Matthew Underwood, Christopher Massey, Abby Wilde and Jack Salvatore.
So far it is known that the plot will be centered on a wedding that will bring together the friends of the Pacific Coast Academy (PCA for its acronym in English).
The project, which has its protagonist as a producer, is already being developed in North Carolina and once it is finished it will be released on the Paramount+ platform.
“I am beyond thrilled to be back with my PCA family and continue the story of Zoey and all the characters fans know and love,” Spears said in a statement.
The original story was created by the controversial writer Dan Schneider, accused of sexual abuse and pedophilia by some Nickelodeon youth stars.
The sequel will not have the participation of Alexa Nikolas, who gave life to Nicole, because in the past the actress denounced Nickelodeon for not having protected her from the sexual abuse of which she was also a victim in her childhood.
In recent years Jamie Lynn Spears was also immersed in controversy due to the network movement entitled “Free Britney” (Free Britney, in Spanish) that called for the cessation of paternal legal guardianship that controlled her sister’s life for almost 14 years. .
Britney publicly accused her sister of profiting from her work and of not being supportive when she pleaded for the end of legal guardianship.
