Bugatti’s latest track weapon features the largest carbon fiber brakes in the world.

The Bugatti Bolide is a rarity even among Bugattis. A model created specifically for the track, combining all the features of models such as the Chiron, Centodieci or Mistral, as well as an aerodynamic section worthy of a racing hypercar of the near future.

And that’s why While we all tend to focus on the power numbers in a car like this, braking is also important, especially in a race car like this. That’s why the Bugatti Bolide is equipped with the largest carbon brakes ever created by Brembo.

Colossal carbon fiber size and standards typical of F1 and LM hypercar.

We are talking about a system with eight-piston front calipers with four 25mm pads and giant 390 x 37.5mm carbon discs, while the rear axle has six-piston calipers with 390 x 43mm carbon discs. In fact, what makes this Brembo brake system extraordinary is not only its size, but also Its performance standards are on par with those of the most important competitions in the world, such as Formula 1 or the Le Mans hypercar category.

This kit is able to cool effectively thanks to the extreme aerodynamic design of this Bugatti Bolide, and is also designed to adapt to different levels of pilot experience and even works effectively in the rain thanks to its a “wet” driving mode that allows the Bolide’s computer to make adjustments to the control system to reduce understeer. All this work and the performance of the car were tested during the last test of the model on the Imola circuit, exactly in the middle of a rainy day.

“Developing the braking system for the Bugatti Bolide was a unique and very exciting challenge for Brembo Performance, and we are proud of what we were able to achieve,” says Mario Almondo, Chief Operating Officer of Brembo Performance. “The use of carbon compounds similar to those used in Formula 1 meant that, despite the size and power of the car, we were able to create the lightest possible structure.“. “In collaboration with Brembo we have developed a braking system that not only meets but exceeds Bolide’s exceptional requirements“adds Emilio Scervo, Chief Technology Officer of Bugatti Rimac.

Bugatti will only produce 40 units of this Bugatti Bolide, each price will be about 4 million euros.

Antonio Ramos Ochoa, who specializes in the world of engines, competition and technology, is the editor of Car and Driver magazine. They say that before getting out of the car, he already named the names of the cars he saw on the street. Several years later he is still here talking about one of his passions. A fan of motorsports, movies, video games and history, he even blows off some steam behind the wheel of a go-kart or simulator from time to time.
