Capgemini presented its report this Wednesday TechnoVisionin which the top five technology trends for 2025 focus on technologies expected to reach an inflection point next year, with a particular focus on the impact of artificial intelligence (AI).

In his presentation, Pascal Briere, Capgemini’s chief innovation officer and member of the group’s executive committee, noted that “in 2025, we see artificial intelligence (AI) and generative AI having a major impact on companies’ business priorities.” as well as in many related technology areas such as robotics, supply chains or the energy mix of tomorrow.”

According to the company, generative AI is now entering the origins of agent identification, where AI systems are evolving from isolated tasks to specialized and interconnected agents. In fact, according to a survey of 1,500 senior executives around the world conducted by Capgemini Research Institute, 32% of them see AI agents as the top technology trend in data and AI by 2025.

“As the reasoning capabilities of Gen IA models increase, they will begin to function more autonomously, provide more reliable, evidence-based results, and be able to manage tasks such as supply chains and predictive maintenance without constant human supervision.” AI systems can make dynamic decisions in more sensitive environments where accuracy is paramount. The next step will be the emergence of a “super agent,” a coordinator of multiple artificial intelligence systems that optimizes their interaction,” says Capgemini, adding that this technology will open up “greater potential in sectors that depend on rapid and flexible responses to unexpected situations.” issues such as healthcare, law and financial services.”

The second major trend will focus on cybersecurity with new threats and defenses. The consulting firm notes that artificial intelligence is changing cybersecurity, enabling both more sophisticated AI-powered cyberattacks and more advanced AI-powered defenses.

The third trend focuses on artificial intelligence-based robotics and the blurring of boundaries between humans and machines. According to Capgemini, advances in artificial intelligence technologies have accelerated the development of next-generation robots that build on mechatronics innovations and go beyond traditional industrial use. “As Industry 4.0 evolves, AI-powered robots will drive efficiency, flexibility and innovation, becoming key components of intelligent and connected systems that will transform industrial processes,” the company explains.

Capgemini names the nuclear energy sector as the fourth trend as the development of artificial intelligence drives the clean technology agenda. The consultant notes that The energy sector is undergoing a complete transformation, with the energy transition accelerating at an unprecedented pace. “Due to the huge demand for energy from artificial intelligence, major technology players are turning to nuclear power to meet their growing computing needs. “Large-scale investment is expected to further accelerate innovation in reactor technology and waste management as the technology industry recognizes that renewables alone cannot meet energy demand,” says Capgemini.

Finally, the fifth major trend is the impact of AI on next-generation supply chains to make them more agile and green. In this sense, Capgemini believes that in 2025, global supply chains will continue to face environmental disruptions, regulatory pressures and geopolitical tensions that will impact the flow of goods and raw materials. “New regulations, such as the European Union’s Digital Product Passport, will force companies to track and disclose the environmental impact of their products, pushing them to adopt more sustainable practices,” he emphasizes.
