characteristics, price and technical data sheet

  • POCO F6 offers one of Qualcomm’s most powerful processors and a 1.5K screen for less than 500 euros.

  • POCO F6 Pro is the first POCO to come with a 2K+ panel and up to 16GB of RAM.

POCO has just launched its new batch of high-end smartphones: POCO F6. Series consisting of POCO F6 and POCO F6 Pro, stands out because it offers power, battery, and screens with high-quality features at a very attractive price. So much so that a smartphone with 16 GB of RAM, 1 TB of internal memory and a 2K+ screen can be purchased for less than 700 euros.

This is the case with the POCO F6 Pro, but its little brother is not small (and he had little as a child). And the POCO F6 is powered by a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, up to 12GB of RAM, and a 1.5K screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. These are, without a doubt, two smartphones that are going to turn the high-end economic segment on its head and we will get to know this more closely below.

Simple but effective design

Back of POCO F6 | Image: POKO

Let’s start with the aesthetic section. POCO F6 offers simple and minimalistic design, with flat chamfers but curved edges and corners. It does not have a camera module, it is built into the body itself. The POCO F6 Pro, on the other hand, has a more discreet finish with a camera module at the top that houses three sensors and a flash. In this sense, it is more reminiscent of regular POCOs. It is worth noting that they are similar in size, but POCO F6 Pro is noticeably heavier.

In terms of display, both POCO phones offer us 6.67-inch AMOLED panels with a 120Hz refresh rate, but there are differences in resolution. POCO leaves FullHD aside in favor install a 1.5K panel in POCO F6 and 2K+ panel (3200 x 1440 pixels) in POCO F6 Pro. To this we add a peak brightness that reaches 4000 nits in the Pro model and which, of course, we can only take advantage of in very special conditions. .

The main differences between both screens are resolution, brightness level and PWM Dimming, the brightness control system. It’s essentially a process that reduces screen flicker, and on paper we want it the higher the better. However, both devices should offer more than adequate capabilities in day-to-day use.

These engines don’t go hungry

If there’s one thing that has set POCO apart in the smartphone world, it’s power. The company has always created the best processors, and this time it will not be any less. Interestingly, the POCO F6 turned out to be better than the POCO F6 Pro, since it is the POCO F6, and not its older brother, that uses the latest version of Qualcomm: the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. The other stayed with the Snapragon 8 Gen 2, probably for price reasons.

While it is true that the POCO F6 processor is more powerful in its pure form, the truth is that the differences between one model and another will be noticeable in certain cases, such as long gaming sessions. Liquid cooling with a vapor chamber will also help here. Needless to say, for WhatsApp, TikTok, Instagram and home applications, any of the two will be more than enough for us.

POCO F6 Pro | Image: POKO

Regarding RAM and internal memory, POCO F6 offers us eight or 12 gigabytes LPPDR5x RAM and up to 512 GB of internal UFS 4.0 memory. That is, we have the fastest components available today. The POCO F6 Pro, on the other hand, bumps up the RAM to 16GB and the internal storage to 16GB. tera.

All this is provided by a 5000 mAh battery in both models and the new Xiaomi HyperOS operating system. The differences lie in the fast charging power, which is 90W for the POCO F6 and 120W for the POCO F6 Pro. According to POCO, the POCO F6 can be fully charged in half an hour, while the POCO F6 Pro can be fully charged in 19 minutes. The package includes a charger for 90 and 120 W, respectively.

If for some reason these phones seem familiar to you, there’s a reason for that: the POCO F6 and POCO F6 Pro are the international versions of the Redmi Turbo 3 and Redmi K70, respectively.

50 megapixel cameras

SMALL F6 camera | Image: POKO

We’re getting closer to the end, but not before we turn to the cameras. For POCO F6, the company chose a Sony IMX882 sensor with a size 50 megapixels with OIS/EIS and eight megapixel wide-angle lens. A simple package that may not include a telephoto camera, but in the end it all comes down to price. The selfie, in turn, is in the hands of a 20-megapixel sensor.

As for POCO F6 Pro, the company opted for a 50-megapixel sensor, but not from Sony, but from OmniVision: Light Fusion 800 which also offers OIS. It has an eight-megapixel wide-angle camera, a two-megapixel macro camera, and a 16-megapixel front-facing selfie sensor.
