A doctor from the University of Cordoba has been selected as a finalist for the 8th Agrobank Chair Prize for the best doctoral thesis.CORDOBA

Jesus FernandezDoctor of the University of Cordoba, is one of the six finalists of the competition Eighth Prize for the Best Doctoral Dissertation elected chairman of Agrobank Quality and innovation in the agri-food sectorslave CaixaBank and the University of Lleida (UDL). The award recognises outstanding achievements in innovation, quality and agri-food safety and promotes career its author.

Jesus Fernandez was chosen because of his doctoral dissertation entitled Innovations in Dehesa Grassland Management: Remote Sensing of Pasture Quality and New Perennial Forage Legumesthe purpose of which is to “increase resistance and sustainability pastures on meadowsthreatened by spatiotemporal and climatic changes in biomass production and nutrient quality, as well as improvements efficiency in pasture management,” according to its author.

This doctoral dissertation examined two innovations “with potential for use in Dehesa pasture management”: use of drought-tolerant perennial legumes bituminous bitumen and remote determination of the nutritional qualities of grass.

Ramos and five members of its scientific and technical advisory committee, will be responsible for choosing which of the six finalists is the winner and who takes second place.
